Our Kyoto and Nara Tour from Kyoto will cover all the main sights of Japan’s two ancient capital cities. The ancient city of Kyoto became the capital of Japan during the 8th Century and kept its title for 1200 years. As a result of this, Kyoto is full of temples, shrines, and artifact that date back to this regal era. The first stop on the itinerary will be Nijo Castle which was the residence of the shoguns during the Tokugawa era from 1603 until 1867. Another important landmark that we will visit is the Golden Pavilion which is a beautiful pagoda decorated in gold leaf and set amongst a lush landscape of trees and Japanese gardens. The tour will also offer the opportunity to walk through Kyoto Imperial Palace which was once the home of the Emperor of Japan. There is also a Western-style buffet lunch included in the tour before we get back on the coach to visit Nara. The charming city of Nara was the very first capital city of Japan. It’s most notable site is the Todaiji Temple which is the world’s largest wooden structure. The temple is also home to a huge statue of the Great Buddha. Nara is also famous for the large number of deer that reside in the city and are free to roam. Visit Nara Park where you will encounter many deer and a beautiful display of cherry blossom during spring.
Our Kyoto and Nara Tour from Kyoto leaves daily with guaranteed departure. Beginning in Kyoto you will visit Nijo Castle and the Imperial Palace, before venturing to the peaceful city of Nara to see the Great Buddha of Todaiji.
