Our Tokyo Sightseeing Tour is the ultimate way to discover Tokyo, the capital of Japan and one of the largest and most famous metropolises in the world. Led by our insider guide, you’ll discover the city like a local as we ride the Tokyo Metro from point to point. The first stop is the Hamarikyu Gardens, a picture of old-world Japan dating to the Edo period, the beautiful gardens were once a feudal hunting ground, and today serve Tokyo’s 9 million inhabitants as a beautiful green lung. We’ll continue by ferry on the Sumida River, enjoying Tokyo’s changing skyline with an explanation of the city’s history and present. Lunch will be at a local restaurant, just before we continue to visit the Senso-Ji Temple. This shrine, iconic to Tokyo is the city’s oldest, and the market outside houses artisans and local craftsmen selling interesting trinkets and uniquely Japanese products. Your guide will explain the contrast between old and new Tokyo, which is stark and somewhat overwhelming, as traditional Japanese culture and tradition fuse with an ultra-modern society and clean lines. Akihabara is perhaps the city’s most iconic modern neighborhood. Its flashing lights and multi-story electronic and cartoon stores represent the Tokyo of today, something that cannot be rivaled anywhere on earth. You’ll tour the neighborhood, hearing about the city’s present and future. Finish the day rich in knowledge, and memories, and with a great base on which to continue exploring Tokyo or Japan.
